About the Painter, Mariam-Saba Ahmad

Unique in her breadth of study it perhaps isn’t so surprising that Mariam-Saba Ahmad is a painter that depicts unique subject matters. Mariam-Saba Ahmad is an East Indian, Muslim American visual artist. She was born 1979 in Washington State. She attended various colleges obtaining baccalaureate degrees in Computer Science, Biochemistry and even attended medical school for a number of years. It wasn’t until she enrolled in a spiritual healing school that she finally felt she had found her path.

Looking different from her peers all her life, resulted in Mariam-Saba being treated differently. As one would guess, it gifted her with a perspective on life that is often found bewildering and mysterious to those around her. Her subject matters are just as interesting. Her favored medium is acrylics on stretched cotton canvas. Her artistic techniques vary from spray painting techniques, to traditional brushwork techniques to liquid pour techniques. Always striving to portray Truth, Beauty and Love in all her offerings, her visual art all share an exploration of vivid color palettes.

Mariam-Saba currently works out of Edmonds, Washington. She loves living close to the Pacific Ocean and one often finds bodies of water in her paintings. She’s in no way limited by this love, as she often depicts fantastical landscapes with alien planets in the sky to inspire her viewers to consider something new and strange. What would it be like to visit such a place? Is it possible that such a place could exist? Her art is part of a growing collection of modern fantasy and science fiction art that inspires the viewer to consider “what if.”
